Pricing

Local Public offers apps-as-a-service via annual subscription, with a one-year minimum and optional auto-renew.

Pricing is on a sliding scale, based on station size, as measured by number of Passport-eligible members.

We hate pricing uncertainty. So we offer a three-year price lock for all stations that sign up for FY26 (launching July 1, 2025-June 30 2026). Prices may decrease, but will not go up.

We also hate tech platform lock-in. So after the first year, stations are free to export their data and download their front-end app code to use as they please. (Apps would require back-end.)

Return on investment

With our traditional, local-broadcast business model disrupted, and future federal funding in question, stations need to be fiscally responsible.

To that end, Local Public apps are designed to become your new revenue engine – via member conversion – as broadcast-related donations and underwriting fade.

WETA ran the numbers and projected to break even in Year 1, with significant additional membership gains going forward. Download the ROI calculator below to see WETA's math, and to adapt/use for your station.

To quote Miguel Monteverde (SVP and General Manager, WETA Greater Washington) from a recent WETA+ demo: "We didn't do this just because it looked cool."
