Born from collaboration

Local Public is the result of the Local Streaming Initiative, which was a group effort to build the modern streaming infrastructure and apps that local PBS stations need to remain viable in the post-broadcast age. The effort was led by Cascade PBS, with help (and funding) from our founding partners and the PBS Major Market Group.

An alliance of five distinct national organizations including Latino Public Broadcasting, Black Public Media, Vision Maker Media, Pacific Islanders in Communications and the Center for Asian American Media, who bring the authentic stories and diverse perspectives of America’s multicultural communities to public media and its digital platforms.
